No, I didn’t have anything on him Steve

I don’t have access to marriages in Egypt, but your guess is right – he married Marguerite in Egypt sometime during the war (she was born in Egypt c1895 to Italian parents).  He left her in September 1938 and she employed an investigator to gather information for a divorce.

Claude was born on the 24th of January 1894 in Adelaide, SA – the son of Randolph Warren GURR (a Monumental Mason) and Adelaide Doretta NEDDEMEYER – and died in 1974 in SA where he was interred in the Cheltenham Cemetery, Charles Sturt City

Many thanks, Frev

Thanks Steve - this couple are actually new to me.

Agnes wasn't a nurse - she was as you've also noted, a Clerk - with the Q.M.A.A.C - which was Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps.

Ha ha Steve - I'm sure with all the amazing work you do for our WW1 Light Horsemen, you should be able to spend a little time relaxing at the pub!  Wink

Both of the above are new to the database - so thanks again.

William CANNING married Amy Gladys ANDERSON in the Jan-Mar Qtr 1916 at Epsom, Surrey, England.
They returned to Australia together with their 2 children in 1920 (as per service record)
William died in Feb 1966 Fitzroy, age 72 - his cremated remains are interred in the Springvale Cemetery
Amy died in 1971 Caulfield, age 77

Ta Steve - Charles FULLGRABE is new to the database - however, I'm afraid I can't find when or where he married, though I pretty much suspect it was in Scotland. (don't have access to Scottish records!)

He married Isabella GILLIES, whose brother Thomas was born in Scotland (Thomas died on Gallipoli serving with the 7th Bn Royal Scots).
And while he (Charles) was waiting for a family ship his address was in Scotland - no marriage registered in England, so most likely Scotland!

Many thanks again Steve - Percy Brokenshire is also new to the database.

Newspapers can’t always be trusted but:

Article (1915) re the death of his brother William at Gallipoli – mentions Percy serving on Gallipoli:
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/87231688

Article (1918) re the death of his brother Harry in France – also mentions Percy as “one of the original Anzacs”…..
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/5601078

Also seems unlikely that he would have been evacuated ill to England from Egypt!
