Hi, I hope that anyone can help with the enquiry.
A friend of mine Grandfather served in the Australian
8th Light horse in Gallipoli - Mesopotamia and Heliopolis.
His name was Private William John Hockley I was told
that he was also an Acting Sargent.
On his medels are the numbers 701 WO2
If anyone gave give any information about this digger
or can recomend any oher web site or address that I can
follow up on. I would be really gratfull - so would
his Grand Daughter.
I have found in the archilves - That his Enlistment was at
Swan Hill - Vic and his service numbers where 621 and 701

I do not have 8LH rolls, but the reference "WO2" would be to his rank - ie Warrant Officer Class Two

Thank you so much for this information.
I will get copy of the book and send it to
his Grand daughter.
I have sent a note to her giving the details
that you both have given me.
